About Me and My Approach
Hi, I’m Chris Bragg
A South Coast local, husband, dog-lover, and your down-to-earth celebrant.
I was born and bred in the Illawarra, growing up in Kiama Downs. After university, I spent nearly two decades teaching in Western Sydney, working as a classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, and Deputy Principal. Those years gave me a deep appreciation for people, community, and the many ways we all show up in the world.
But if you’re expecting a “teacher vibe,” that’s not me. What you’ll find instead is someone who’s authentic, easygoing, and focused on making sure couples feel relaxed, heard, and celebrated.
I’ve been married since 2011 to my incredible wife, and we’ve been together for over 20 years. Our own wedding day (and the celebrant who made it so memorable) sparked the idea that I could bring my people skills, love of stories, and knack for organising big moments into a new career. Becoming a celebrant felt like a natural next step.
When I’m not marrying couples, you’ll usually find me out in the surf, fishing, watching sport, or spoiling my two toy poodles, Billy and Stella, who are far too convinced they’re human. In another life, I was in a punk band in the late ‘90s/early 2000s — I’m pretty sure the peroxide from those days is why I’m bald now!
Why Couples Choose Me
Personality
I’m a fun-loving people-person who enjoys a laugh, but when it comes to your wedding I’m focused, organised, and completely committed to making the day perfect for you.
Personalisation
Your ceremony won’t be a template. I take the time to get to know you, so it reflects your story, style, and values.
Professionalism
From first contact to final paperwork, I pride myself on clear communication, attention to detail, and reliable service.
Flexibility
Whether you’re planning a big celebration or an intimate elopement, I’ll adapt to your needs.
Warmth
I genuinely love what I do, and that comes through in every ceremony.
My three recommendations for finding your perfect celebrant!
